For the past week and a 1/2 I have been reading Michael Perry’s book….Truck a Love Story. I only now have found this Wisconsin author and so far I am loving his writing. I am going to keep this review short and sweet because I don’t want to give away too much. Truck is about Michael’s “mission” to get his 1951 International Harvestor truck running and operational by Deer Season (a “holiday” that we take VERY seriously here in Wisconsin). Along the way readers will learn why “seed catalogs are responsible for more unfulfilled fantasies than Enron and Penthouse combined,” why squirrels are evil, a little bit about Mike’s dating life and a little bit about his interesting neighbors.
I really enjoyed this book. Plus the author lives only a few hours north of where I live! I enjoyed this book so much that I can hardly wait to start reading his new book Coop. I’ve heard great things about it. I giggled most of the way through this book because Mike paints such vivid pictures with his words that you can imagine yourself there with him. I hope that you will check this book out!
Here is the photographic evidence that I indeed did clean up my bathroom the other day. It took a little bit of doing but she got done and looks a crap ton better…In my opinion anyway.
While my room is my major “jungle” my bathroom is a very close second. Here is photographic evidence to show that very fact:
And yes, you did just see a box of gas relief tablets, pepto tablets multiple boxes of tampons, a coupon for tampons plus various and assorted other things. Most of which aren’t even in my bathroom anymore. I spent Wednesday morning cleaning my bathroom and you’ll have to come back tomorrow to see the final results.
1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth.
2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.
Today I had this “super brilliant” idea. Basically, it was to mow our lawn without suffering heat stroke. Well, the lawn is now mowed and I made it through with out suffering a heat stroke. But when your thermometer says this:
With a heat index in the mid to upper 90’s….You tend to look like this:
All red-faced an miserable looking….Once you take your hat off you realize that:
Your still red-faced and miserable and your hair has pretty much sweated itself flat down on to your head in some places.
I’ve decided that all of my bloggy pals are going to have there own page. I’ve already started the page it’s called My Bloggy Pals (Blog Links). I just started it this morning and don’t have everyone in there yet so please don’t be disappointed if you don’t see your name in there yet. I’m working on it.
I apologize for being such a “bad” bloggy friend lately. Life has been seriously kicking my butt lately. So a little recap of what’s been going on with me. On the work front….Things have been pretty interesting to say the least. Our new ETL (Executive Team Lead) is doing really well and actually helps out around the sales floor….In short so far she’s A OK. We’re headed in to our second busy season of the year…Back to School. Which leads to short on help and even shorter tempers.
On the home front….Nothing all that exciting has been going on. I’ve been doing a bunch of reading, currently reading Wisconsin author Micheal Perry’s book Truck: A Love Story. I’ve even joined paperbackswap.com and good reads . I’ve actually got my first book on it’s way from paperbackswap.com. I can hardly wait until it gets here. As I’m writing this post, in a seperate window I’ve got paperback up and I’m adding all of Louis LAmour’s books to my wish list….I’m a big Louis LAmour fan.
I’ve restarted knitting my aunt’s afghan that’s part of her Christmas present. Not as far as I’d like to be on it but stuff happens right.
It’s hotter than Hades here for the next few days. Even have had a few not so pretty storms too.
On a country road somewhere in Ireland over 10 years agao, it was love at first sight for Holly, lost young American tourist, and Gerry, a very charming local lad. As time goes by, the once fearless Holly has become unsure of herself and her own identity. When tragedy strikes and Gerry passes away of a brain tumor, Holly is left a widow shortly before her 30th birthday. Her family and best friends are worried that Holly may never again emerge from her take-out container strewn apartment. After holing herself up in her apartment for weeks, watching olds moves, a birthday cake and a tape recording from her late husband Gerry mysteriously shows up at her apartment. Thus, marking the beginning of a series of letters instructing her to perform unusual requests. With a little help from her girlfriends, Holly begins a year of wild adventures and a life journey that Gerry has planned for her, helping her to discover who she is without him and reminding her – p.s. I Love You.
